The end of the year a group of young people met in the center S. Benno (Bad Lauterberg, Germany), of the idente missionaries, to participate in the Youth Festival. It was the first time that this activity was organized under the auspices of the President of the idente missionaries, Jesús Fernández, who encouraged us to create this festival for youth. For this reason, a few months ago we had contacted the head of the youth group in Bad Lauterberg to present the festival in one of its meetings. So also two boys from the village participated.
It was an international meeting with participants from Germany, Spain, Vietnam, Ecuador and Italy, with the characteristic that none of the young assistants had taken part before in Idente Youth activities. In the different workshops the numbers for the Youth Festival were prepared and at the same time the young people had the opportunity to discover talents that they did not yet know they had.
In the music workshop they prepared a very famous “Hallelujah” from Cloverton. Some of the boys adapted some new stanzas to rap music to sing along with the chorus. A big surprise was also the poetry workshop, in which everyone opened and wrote a poem.
In those days they also had a spiritual component. At the beginning of the day we met in a circle to make a small reflection. They took advantage of those moments to explain some signs of Idente Youth. At night each young person had the opportunity to express what had touched him on that day.
For the Youth festival some people came to see the participants. They presented what they had prepared in the workshops and other interventions. They played the piano and the harp, they sang, and they read their poems. The festival was followed by a dance workshop that was spontaneously organized, dinner and a night game.
The next day, in the conclusions, all expressed that they had been impressed by the charity and unity lived. A young woman said that she had come to find answers and had seen what love is. Another young man previously thought that he had no talents and now he had found them.
Everyone was very happy and the young people started asking about the next Youth Festival.
After the Youth Festival a Motus Christi had been called in the last days of the year. For the New Year’s Eve dinner, some local residents were invited, a time that they enjoyed immensely with an athenaeum with songs, theater, poetry and dance. The next day we all returned to our respective homes with great enthusiasm for 2018.
